Deadline for job application: June 10, 2008. WEI is currently seeking applicants for an AmeriCorps Vista position to continue working on the North Circle Project. WEI's VISTA will commit to serve full-time for a year (August 2008-August 2009) coordinating the North Circle Project and continuing to develop a local community of organic growers/farmers and a processing facility for the North Circle farmers. In this VISTA position, you will gain new skills, friends, and community —plus you will get the satisfaction that comes from working with farmers in this rural community development project. During your VISTA service, you’ll also receive a modest living allowance, health care, and other benefits. Upon completing your service, you can choose to receive either an education award worth $4,725 to pay for college, or $1,200 in cash. On-site full time residency on the WEI farm campus can be negotiated.

The person awarded this AmeriCorps VISTA position will continue to develop the third year of the North Circle Project. Goals for the third year include fundraising and planning for a local processing facility and certified kitchen; planning and implementation of a pilot value-added food project; community outreach for farmer recruitment; strengthening the network of North Circle supporters, farmers, and volunteers; and, supporting and expanding markets for local and organic products, such as local farmers' markets, food coops and area grocery stores.
